Manpuku

The heroine of the 99th NHK asadora, Imai Fukuko, is modeled after Ando Masako, the wife of businessman Ando Momofuku who brought instant ramen into this world. It is the success story of Fukuko and Manpei who lived desperately during the period before the war through the high economic growth era in Osaka. “Manpuku” literally means full stomach, but it’s also the combination of the names of our main characters, MANpei and FUKUko.
