SYNOPSIS

In 1936, wrought copper produced by the the Dong family of Shaanxi province has become indispensable at war. As such, the Japanese imperial army has launched the "Sakura Project." Dong Shouwang has been robbing the rich to help the poor in times of crisis, yet he accidentally throws a wrench in the plans by the Communist underground.

Qi Ying (Feng Wenjuan), a member of the Communist party, receives orders to complete the plan to procure wrought copper in large quantities through her friendship with Dong Shouwang (Wang Zirui), the second young master of the Dong family. Dong Shouwang does not think twice about helping her because he likes Qi Ying. However, Dong Shouwang discovers that Qi Ying's father, Ma Qilong (Ni Tu), had a hand in his own father's death. He makes an assassination attempt in anger yet falls into a trap laid by the enemy.

Guan Jianyun (Fan Yulin) who is like a father to Qi Ying and Dong Shouwang is killed while trying to save Dong Shouwang. Overwhelmed by grief, Dong Shouwang sets aside his personal grievances and cooperates with Qi Ying in procuring the materials needed to provide guns and ammunition for the soldiers fighting in the frontlines. Going from enemies to friends and lovers, Dong Shouwang and Qi Ying achieve great feats together and under her guidance, he makes significant contributions in the war against Japanese invasion.
