Originally of Shandong Province, and born in Fuzhou, after working as a book salesman, and later Literary researcher and editor, he began to write novels in the 80s. In the 90s he began to work first as film story consultant for Zhang Yi Mou, and later as co-writer of some of his movies, as well as several TV series.
