- 2020 theme of the contest was COVID-19:  Hedy Law, an associate professor of musicology help organized a Cantonese singing contest held online for UBC students. Ashia 廖嘉敏 sang the winning song "相擁風雨中 Rain Before Sunshine", with lyrics penned by UBC student Emily Liang. The production process was completed remotely, with no face-to-face contact.
