In episode 8 Won Deuk and Hong Shim are safe from Seok Ha's assassination attempt thanks to Hong Shim's distant gaze that alerts Won Deuk to spot the arrow behind and save them. Meanwhile, Officer Je-yoon is kidnapped by the Queen's team, and he converses with one of the advisors who reveals to him that the Queen isn't the one behind it. Ma Chil suddenly appears to demand for the debt since the magistrate, his backing, has collapsed, and he pulls Hong Shim away in a bid to sell her.
