Under Li Xunrong's account, Xi Zhongxun learned that Wang Dexiu had joined the Youth League, and under the party's arrangement, the two of them entered the Political Department of the Shaanxi Provincial Government of the Kuomintang. Later, the Great Revolution failed and the Provincial Party Committee was destroyed. Li Xunrong and Wang Dexiu lost contact with their superiors. Wang Dexiu was deeply hit and gradually lost confidence in the future of the revolution, and later gave up and returned to the organization.
Originally, Xi Zhongxun thought that Wang Dexiu had participated in the Great Revolution and should be their main target, but now it seems that they need to adjust their thinking and focus on actively uniting lower-level soldiers in each company and platoon to form a backbone, strengthen the organization, and wait for the opportunity to launch an uprising. Both Li Xunrong and Li Tesheng strongly supported Xi Zhongxun's ideas and carried out their own work.
That night, Li Dawa, a soldier from the Third Company, sneaked into Wang Dexiu's room to steal silver coins, but was caught by Wang Dexiu. Wang Dexiu ordered people to flog Li Dawa in public. Li Dawa cried and complained that he had never stolen anyone's food money, but got back half a year's military pay. After all, he still had his mother and younger brother to support at home.
Because all the soldiers in the battalion had not received military pay and had no money to support their families, they felt extremely aggrieved. Xi Zhongxun took the opportunity to make a big fuss and persuaded Wang Dexiu to let Li Dawa go. Otherwise, if he continued to fight, he would chill people's hearts. Sure enough, the soldiers present were furious and shouted for the release of Li Dawa, which made Wang Dexiu unable to come to Taiwan. He had no choice but to bite the bullet and agreed to release her, but put Xi Zhongxun in solitary confinement.
After this incident, the soldiers' dissatisfaction with Wang Dexiu became increasingly high, and platoon leader Zuo Wenhui and others responded to go to the battalion headquarters to rescue Xi Zhongxun. Fortunately, Li Xunrong successfully persuaded Wang Dexiu, so Xi Zhongxun quickly returned to the company, encouraged everyone to form a rope, and proposed forming a club to help each other.
In the days that followed, Xi Zhongxun often brought New Youth and other publications to his comrades, and even introduced aspiring patriotic young people to join the party, and the team gradually grew. Li Tesheng introduced special commissioner Liu Jingwen to Xi Zhongxun, and the other party conveyed the instructions of the provincial party committee and agreed that they would use the opportunity of the troops to change defenses to launch an uprising.
In early April 1932, when the troops arrived in Liangdang County, Gansu Province, Xi Zhongxun secretly summoned everyone. Liu Jingwen once again conveyed the instructions of the provincial party committee and would send Liu Zhidan to lead the Shaanxi-Gansu Red Army guerrillas south to support them. Xi Zhongxun was extremely happy after hearing this. Xi Zhongxun deployed an action plan and ordered platoon leader Gao Xiangsheng to lead people to deal with Wang Dexiu, second platoon leader Lu Jianren and Wu Jincai to lead people to deal with the machine gun company, and the others to fight out from the north gate.
That night, under the leadership of Xi Zhongxun and others, the troops split up and an uprising broke out. Wang Dexiu tried to escape with a box of gold bars and silver dollars, but he still couldn't take it away, so he could only run into the deep mountains and forests in embarrassment. On the other side, soldiers and machine gun companies were fighting fiercely. Xi Zhongxun called on everyone to conserve their strength and evacuate quickly.
Everyone left the Second Battalion, and the fifth detachment of the Shaanxi-Gansu Guerrillas of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army was formally established. Wu Jincai served as the detachment captain, Liu Jingwen was the detachment's political commissar, and Xi Zhongxun was the team secretary. After resting for a while, the insurgent troops decided to go north to find Liu Zhidan. As a result, they were constantly chased and intercepted by reactionary armed forces along the way. The situation was difficult and dangerous, and more and more wounded soldiers were injured.
Since the enemy was surrounded from both sides, Xi Zhongxun planned his departure route and crawled along the path. He led everyone to fight hand-to-hand with the enemy and rushed forward desperately. Finally, after traveling for hundreds of miles, everyone arrived at Caijiahe Fort. The most difficult problem at the moment was still the lack of ammunition.
Liu Jingwen suggested rushing to Yueyusi Temple as soon as possible to rest and recuperate, but because he needed to cross the river, Xi Zhongxun decided to find a boat for the troops to cross the river. After Xi Zhongxun said goodbye to everyone, he set off with Wen Hui. When they returned, they heard the news that the uprising troops had been dispersed. They couldn't help but be heartbroken and wanted to find their living brothers.
In early April 1932, the Liangdang Mutiny launched by Liu Jingwen, Xi Zhongxun, Xu Tianjie and others was an armed uprising launched by the Communist Party of China after the Qingjian, Weihua and Xunyi uprisings. The uprising effectively supported and cooperated with Liu Zhidan The revolutionary struggle of the Shaanxi-Gansu guerrillas led by Xie Zichang and Xie Zichang expanded the political influence of the party and the Red Army in the northwest region, especially in Shaanxi-Gansu provinces.
