BTS out beat Jonas Brothers and Panic! at the Disco group for Favorite Duo/Group in the Pop/Rock category. This is the world's first for a non-English speaking band to be nominated and win the Favorite Duo / Group award. Although BTS was not there to receive the award, they recorded a very sweet heartfelt message for their fans (Army).
"Thank you so much. We are really honored to receive such an important and meaningful award," they said. "BTS has been a group for six and a half years and, throughout those years, we've had so many of our dreams somehow manifest into reality and Army, you guys are the ones who make all this possible and we really couldn't have done it without your love and support from all over the world."
They said they will try their best to live up to it, strive high and work harder to reciprocate the love and appreciation of their fans. On a side note: BTS members will be going into the military in order to fulfill their required time of military service. The band members must serve in the South Korean Military, in keeping with their their law, as all able bodied men have to serve two years in the military to uphold their freedoms and defend itself from its Stalinist northern neighbor.
